Maya Okonjo knows who she wants to stay close to. Her sister Ada. Theo Marchetti, a client she’s worked with for two years. A handful of old colleagues she means to call and then doesn’t.

What she never had was a plan for how often.

In Groupthink that plan is called a cadence: how often you want to be in touch with someone. Every week, every month, once a year. When it has been longer than that, the person shows up on Today under **Relationship check-ins**, before things go quiet.

Setting a cadence one person at a time is slow when you have dozens of people. Now you can set it for many people at once from the Relationships page.

## Tick the people you want

Open **Relationships**. Tick the box at the start of each row you want. The box at the top of that column ticks the people on this page. A button appears above the table: **Set cadence**, with how many people you ticked.

The **Set cadence** button shows on the full Relationships table, not while a list is open.

## Choose a cadence and confirm

Click **Set cadence** and choose a cadence. You can give everyone the same one, like **Monthly**. Or choose **Suggested for each person**, and each person gets the rhythm Groupthink sees in your contact with them.

Groupthink asks you to confirm, with the count: “Set a monthly check-in for 12 people?” Click **Set cadence**. Nothing changes before you do.

The card then says how many people it set. If anyone wasn’t updated, it names them and says why. The usual reason is “No suggestion yet”: there hasn’t been enough contact with that person to suggest a rhythm. Those people stay ticked, so you can pick a cadence for them and try again.

Maya used this for her clients first. She ticked eleven of them and set **Quarterly** for all of them. Then she ticked a group of friends and chose **Suggested for each person**. Two came back with “No suggestion yet,” so she picked **Yearly** for those two and clicked **Set cadence** again.

## Change one person later

The new cadences show in the **Frequency** column. To change one person, click their Frequency cell and pick a different one.

New accounts that connect a calendar can also be asked who they want to keep up with during setup.

The steps are in the help center under [Staying in Touch](https://groupthink.com/docs/staying_in_touch#set-a-cadence-for-several-people-at-once).

## What a cadence gets you

Groupthink is a memory for the people in your life and work. A cadence is how you tell it who matters and how often. From then on, Today tells you when it’s been too long, so you don’t have to keep the list in your head.

If you already use Groupthink, open Relationships, tick the people you keep meaning to call, and click **Set cadence**. If you don’t have Groupthink yet, [sign up](https://app.groupthink.com/signup/).
