Start a Note Instantly from Your Mac Menu Bar

Danielle Morrill

We’re excited to introduce a small but mighty update for Mac users: Groupthink now lives in your menu bar. That means faster access to the tools you use the most—without switching tabs or losing your flow.

To use this, you can download Groupthink for MacOS

Start a Note in One Click

Ever have a great idea mid-meeting or want to jot down a quick thought while you’re working? Now, you can:

  1. Click the ✅ Groupthink icon in your Mac menu bar.
  2. Choose “Start New Note.”
  3. Boom—you’re capturing ideas without disrupting your focus.

Other Handy Shortcuts

Right from the same menu, you can also:

  • Open the main Groupthink app with “Show Groupthink”
  • Check for updates to stay current with the latest features
  • Quit Groupthink completely (though we hope you’ll stay!)

This feature is especially useful for knowledge workers who want to reduce friction in their day, founders and team leads managing lots of meetings, and anyone who values clean, focused workflows.

We’re obsessed with minimizing the cognitive load of managing your workday. Every time we remove a click, a tab switch, or a context shift, you get a bit of your time and mental clarity back. This update is part of that mission.

What’s Next?

We’re continuously improving the desktop experience to make capturing insights and staying accountable even easier. Here’s what’s coming soon:

  • A Microsoft desktop audio app — Groupthink is coming to Windows! We’re working on a lightweight desktop app that records audio, starts notes, and syncs with your meetings—just like on Mac. ➡️ Want early access? Join the waitlist
  • Smarter post-meeting workflows — We’re exploring ways to automate your follow-ups, action items, and task assignments so nothing falls through the cracks. 💬 Want to help shape this? Grab time with our cofounders to share what would make your post-meeting life easier.

Have a feature idea or something you’d love to see next? We’re all ears. founders@groupthink.com
