Calendar access is required (finishing the calendar step during sign-in)

When you sign in with Google or Microsoft, Groupthink asks for permission to access your calendar so it can see your meetings and take notes on them. If that calendar permission is left unchecked on the provider's screen, Groupthink can't finish connecting — so you'll land back on the sign-in page with a message like "One more step — allow calendar access" and a Grant Calendar Access button.

This is easy to run into because Google leaves the calendar permission unchecked by default on its consent screen. It's a quick fix.

How to fix it

  1. On the "One more step — allow calendar access" screen, click Grant Calendar Access.
  2. You'll be taken back to the provider's permission screen.
  3. This is the important part: on Google's screen, tick the checkbox next to the calendar permission ("See, edit, share, and permanently delete all the calendars you can access") before you click Continue. On Microsoft, make sure the calendar access stays selected when you approve.
  4. Finish, and you'll be returned to Groupthink, signed in with your calendar connected.

Tip: If you clicked Continue without ticking the calendar box, you'll simply be brought back to the same "allow calendar access" screen. Try again and make sure the box is checked this time.

Why Groupthink needs calendar access

Groupthink uses your calendar to see your upcoming meetings, join or privately record them, and attach notes to the right event. Without calendar access, those core features can't run — which is why it's required to finish signing in with Google or Microsoft.

Already signed in, but your calendar isn't syncing?

If you're already in Groupthink and your meetings stopped appearing (rather than hitting this during sign-in), that's a different fix — see Reconnect your Google Calendar.
