Someone tells you over coffee that they’re thinking about leaving their job in the spring. By the time you’re back at a computer, the details are gone.
Groupthink is a memory for the people in your life and work. Starting today there’s a new Groupthink app for iPhone, so you can keep what you learn about someone while you’re still away from your desk. It’s in the App Store as Groupthink Assistant, version 3.0.0. It replaces the old Groupthink app on the same listing, so if you already have the old app, the new one arrives as an update.
Everyone you keep up with gets a page on the People tab. The page shows what you know about them, the threads still open between you, and your history of interactions.
Set how often you want to stay in touch, and the page shows whether you’re on track, falling behind or overdue. New facts drawn from your notes wait on the page until you confirm or dismiss them. An open thread stays listed until you mark it covered.
On a person’s page, tap Log interaction and write a sentence about the coffee you just had. It goes into their history. For a longer note, use Write or paste on the Interactions tab.
To capture a conversation in the room, tap Start recording on the Interactions tab. The recording keeps going when you lock your phone, and you get a transcript. The app doesn’t record phone calls. While you’re on a call, your iPhone keeps the microphone for the call.
Connect a Google or Outlook calendar, and the Today tab lists your meetings and who is in each one. When there’s something on record about the people you’re meeting, talking points show up, and each one says where it came from. Below that, Tasks shows what’s due today and what you owe people, with a Clear button on each.
The update replaces the old app. Its meeting feed, agendas, slides and video calls are not in the new one.
Sign in the same way you did before: Apple, Google, or your email and password. If you used to sign in with a link we emailed you, or with Microsoft, tap Sign in with email, enter that email, then tap Forgot password to set a password. You now sign in before recording or writing notes.
It’s the same account you use for Groupthink on the web, so the people you add on your phone are there on your computer too.
Search the App Store for Groupthink Assistant, or open Groupthink Assistant on the App Store. It needs iOS 18 or later. Add one person and write one sentence about the last time you talked. That’s enough to start.
Groupthink also runs on the web and on Mac and Windows. Everything is at groupthink.com/download.
