Managing Your Billing & Subscription
Groupthink billing lives in the Billing tab of your user settings. From there you can see your current plan, start a Pro subscription, update your payment method, view invoices, and cancel. Payments are handled by Stripe, so the payment and invoice screens are hosted on Stripe rather than inside Groupthink.
Open it directly at User Settings > Billing, or click your profile picture in the bottom left of the app, choose User settings, and open the Billing tab.
Plans
The Billing tab shows two plans:

The Pro plan card in the Billing tab shows the current monthly price. The same price appears on the Stripe checkout page before you confirm, so you always see the exact amount before paying.
New workspaces start with a 30-day trial. While your trial is active you have full access. The Billing tab shows a trial card with the days remaining and the date your trial ends.
What happens when your trial ends
If you have not upgraded by the time your 30-day trial ends, your workspace returns to limited access. Until you upgrade to Pro you will not be able to add the notetaker to new meetings or open your past meeting recaps. Your past meetings are not erased. Upgrading to Pro restores access to them.
When access is paused, Groupthink shows an upgrade prompt that matches your situation, for example an expired trial, a canceled subscription, or a payment that did not go through.
Upgrading to Pro
- Open User Settings > Billing.
- On the Pro plan card, click Start Upgrade. (During your trial, you can also click Upgrade Now on the trial card.)
- Groupthink sends you to a Stripe checkout page.
- Enter your payment details on Stripe and confirm. After payment, you return to Groupthink as a Pro subscriber.
You can also reach this flow from any upgrade prompt in the app, such as the Upgrade Now button on the trial banner or the meeting quota indicator.
Managing your subscription
Once you are on Pro, the Billing tab shows a Manage Billing button.
- Open User Settings > Billing.
- Click Manage Billing. This opens the Stripe billing portal in a new tab.
The billing portal is hosted by Stripe. From there you can:
- Update or replace your payment method
- View and download past invoices
- Manage or cancel your subscription
Because the portal is Stripe's own set of screens, the exact buttons and layout there are controlled by Stripe and may differ from the rest of Groupthink.
Updating your payment method
Open the Billing tab, click Manage Billing, and update your payment method from the Stripe billing portal. Stripe saves the new card for your future payments.
Canceling your subscription
- Open User Settings > Billing.
- Click Manage Billing to open the Stripe billing portal.
- Cancel your subscription from the portal and follow the prompts to confirm.
After you cancel, you keep Pro access until the end of your current billing period. When that period ends, your workspace returns to the Free plan and loses the Pro-only features. The 30-day trial is a one-time offer and does not start again after a cancellation.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. The Free plan and the trial do not require a credit card. You only enter payment details when you upgrade to Pro.
Can I still see my past meetings after my trial ends?
Not until you upgrade. Once your trial ends without a Pro subscription, past recaps are locked behind an upgrade prompt. Upgrading to Pro restores access to them.
How do I update my card?
Open the Billing tab, click Manage Billing, and update your payment method in the Stripe billing portal.
Is my payment information secure?
Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered and stored with Stripe, not inside Groupthink.
What payment methods are accepted?
The accepted payment methods are shown on the Stripe checkout and billing portal screens when you pay.
